“Masks of the Lost Kings” by Tom Bane is a fast paced action adventure that kept me on the edge of my sit waiting to see what would happen next. Dealing with the belief/religions of the past and archeological sites in Egypt, Israel, and Mexico it provided for a great adventure and tied in a lot of historical facts to give the story realism.

I really enjoyed the characters and I was able to identify with them. I could put myself into the story. The lead character was very believable, not one of the superhero types you often find in this genre. The storyline was easy to follow but kept me guessing what was going to happen next. The author did an excellent job developing both the storyline and the characters.

I highly recommend “Masks of the Lost Kings” by Tom Bane for all ages.

I attended a book signing the weekend to pick a copy of Dr. Maria Negron’s new book “Treasures from the King” for my 6 year old grandson. After reading the book we both agreed this is an excellent book with a very positive message for children.

Do you remember when there use to always be a “moral to the story?” This book is composed of four short adventure tales, each of which has a great moral. Not only were they good for you but they were fun to read. I actually got into the stories, but then I am a big kid at heart.

As a grandparent I recommend you pick up several copies today for all your children, grandchildren and any other children in your life.

I highly recommend this book for everyone.

“Hanging on by the Scratch Marks My Nails Left Behind (Raw Faith)” by Elizabeth L. Chalker is an excellent book detailing the real life story of the author and her trails and troubles with Lyme decease. It is a story of faith and courage that far exceeds what the average person will every face or endure. It is the story of how Elizabeth kept her eyes on Jesus even during her darkest hours.

When reading the book you can feel the author’s emotions, pains, sadness and joys coming through the pages. I found myself crying with the author and rejoicing in the triumph of her faith. This is a well written book that is easy to get into.

I highly recommend this book.

review

After a slow start I enjoy “Lunara – Seth and Chloe” by Wyatt Davenport. The storyline was good and most of the action was believable. There were a few exceptions which will stand out in today’s world of tech savvy readers.

I did have trouble relating to the characters. The main characters in the story could have been developed more with better background information. This may have made it easier to identify with them. The relationship and storyline of some of the minor characters seemed disjointed.

Overall I enjoyed the book, but it was not one of my favorites of this year’s reading list.

Roberto Ornan Roche’s book “The Lighthouse of Asaph: Unforgettable Christian Reflections” is a collection of beautifully written devotionals/essays on the joys and struggles of daily Christian life. It is a very deep and thought provoking book that will touch the core of your soul. I found the book to be both encouraging and inspiring.

There are some issues with the translation from the author’s Spanish language to English. This should not be a deterrent in buying and reading the book. The depth and honesty found in the stories more than overcome these translation issues. This book is a faith builder.

I recommend “The Lighthouse of Asaph: Unforgettable Christian Reflections” by Roberto Ornan Roche.

“Shadow of the Sun” by Laura Kreitzer is the first book in her “Timeless Series”. It is an exciting tale about humans and angels. This work of fiction puts forth an alternative view of that relation from a non-religious viewpoint. The storyline is fast paced and full of action and adventure. Even with the continually evolving plot it is easy to read and follow. Once I started the book I did not want to put it down.

The characters are strong and easy to identify with. The author has done a great job in developing and conveying the raw emotions felt by the characters. This makes the story easier to follow and believe.

I totally enjoyed the book and I look forward to the next book in the “Timeless” series.

I highly recommend “Shadow of the Sun” by Laura Kreitzer.

I have always love proverbs and local “sayings” and Suzanne Fisher has captured the spirit of the simple life of the Amish in her book, “Amish Proverbs: Words of Wisdom from the Simple Life.” I like the way she describes it, “If you want to know a people, know their proverbs.”

The book is a combination of proverbs and short stories that are so applicable in our everyday life and the photos make them come alive. In our busy, fast paced world it is good to reflect on the basics of life and how we live. I found her book very uplifting and thought provoking.

This book will make a great gift for any occasion. But, more important it is a great book to read and reflect on. I find myself using the proverbs in my blogging and up-dates all the time.

I highly recommend this book for all ages.

I just finished “Prophets and Loss” by Martin Roth and it was excellent. This is the first book of his “Johnny Ravine Private Detective Series” and it has me hooked. I can’t wait to read more books in this series.

The storyline of “Prophets and Loss” is well develop and easy to follow. I like the way the author explained the main character’s history and background, tying it into the story. The action way continuous and exciting, which made it hard to put the book down.

The characters, especially the lead character, Johnny, were very believable. It was easy to identify Johnny and follow his story.

I look forward to reading more of Johnny’s adventures in the other books of the “Johnny Ravine Private Detective Series.”

I high recommend this book.

“Psalm 23, Help for Lost Lambs” by Bob Saffrin is an excellent study of the 23rd Psalm and full of life applications. This is a short book and easy to read and digest. I found the book very insightful and interesting.

His life applications of Psalm 23 will easily touch every reader, no matter what your situation is. I especially liked his description of the 23rd Psalm as the “Swiss Army Knife of Psalms.” It is applicable in all life’s situations.

Bob is an excellent writer and I have found his Bible studies extremely helpful.

I highly recommend “Psalm 23, Help for Lost Lambs” by Bob Saffrin.
