If you like action packed adventure with a few headhunters, cannibals, and archeologists thrown in you will love Days of the Seven by Ryan Orr. Once I started reading this book I did not want to stop.
The author did a great job of developing a storyline which will keep you on the edge of your seat. Taking place in the African Congo the author wove a tail of adventure and intrigue. I found myself caught up in the story and holding my breath as each new twist unfolded.
Ryan Orr’s characters were both believable and real to life. It was easy to identify with them and understand their emotions and thought process. I really liked the characters and the way the author developed them.
This was an exceptionally good book which I really enjoyed. I highly recommend this book to all readers.

Once in a while you find a book that you just can’t put down; Chasing Fate by Maria Miller is just such a book. It is full of adventure and action and will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire book.
The author did a great job of putting together a story that was exciting and full of intrigue. Even with all the twist and turns in the storyline it was easy to follow and keep up with. I found it easy to put myself into the story and follow along with the heroes and this always makes a book better for me.
I liked the way Maria Miller developed her characters. Her heroes were both strong yet vulnerable, which thought and acted like your everyday teenagers. I found it easy to identify with them and thought there was realness to them.
Chasing Fate by Maria Miller was an excellent YA mystery/adventure book and I highly recommend this book to all readers.

Psalm 119 – Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet by Deborah H. Bateman is an excellent commentary and Bible study of the longest chapter found in the Bible. Though it could be read as a daily study, I found I could not put it down and finished it in a couple of reading sessions.
Deborah H. Bateman did a great job of putting together a short, concise guide to this powerful Psalm. Her style of writing made it easy to follow and understand. Her narrative was both simple and to the point, while leaving plenty of room for the reader to apply the verses to their life and situation.
At the end of each lesson the author asked several questions in a section called “Things to Think About.” I found these to be very thought provoking and extremely insightful.
I really enjoyed Psalm 119 – Thy Word is a Lamp unto My Feet by Deborah H. Bateman and I highly recommend this book to all readers.

Empath by Becca J. Campbell is a great example of how to write an excellent adventure thriller. It has all the parts necessary to grab you by the seat of your pants and keep you glued to the book and this is exactly what it did to me.

The author did an excellent job of storytelling. She was able to weave a tail of intrigue and mystery involving, murder, heroes with special gifts, and action packed adventure. The book was easy to follow even with all the twist and turns. I soon found myself totally involved in the story.

Becca J. Campbell did a great job of developing characters that were both believable and real to life. It was easy to identify in the heroes and the heroine of the story. I was able to follow each character and grow close to them as the story progress.

I really like reading Empath by Becca J. Campbell and I highly recommend it to all readers.

review

Genesis of Hand and Paw by William Porter is an interesting book and the premise will keep the reader going.

The author did a good job of weaving a tale of werewolves, angels and demons. The overall storyline is intriguing and believable. I do have two vary strong problems with the book. The first issue is with the excessive grammatical and spelling errors. This is very distracting to the story.

The second and most disturbing issue was the excessive use of graphic sexual content throughout the book. I am not a prude especially if the sexual content is integral to the story. This was not, and it actually was very distracting and disturbing because the content involved violent sex between the demons and very young children. It also included sex between young adolescence and other forms of non-typical behavior.

I can not recommend this book to any reader.

I really enjoyed reading The Trickster’s Totem by H. B. Bolton. This is the second book in the series, Relics of Mysticus, and like the first one, it is an excellent YA fantasy novel.

The author did a great job in story development, making it full of action and mystery. The book’s many twist and turns kept me on the edge of my seat not wanting to put the book down. It was both fun to read and full of all the aspects that make for a good fantasy book.

H.B. Bolton did a good job of character development, keeping them both believable and real. The main heroes from the earlier book continue to grow and mature in this story. The new characters, both friend and foe, help make the story exciting and different.

I really liked The Trickster’s Totem by H.B. Bolton and I highly recommend this book to all readers, especially YA fantasy readers.

The Master’s Quilt by Michael J Webb is an excellent historical novel dealing with the life of several players in the drama of Jesus’ crucifixion and the immediate years that followed.

The author did a great job of storytelling, developing a story that is both intriguing and sticks to what few historical truths are known of this period. The story was both realistic and easy to follow. I found it hard to put this book down once I started reading it.

Michael J Webb did an excellent job of developing his main characters, building on the known history and adding fiction to tell a story. It was easy to identify with them and feel the internal struggle they were going through.

I really enjoyed The Master’s Quilt by Michael J Webb and I highly recommend this book to all reader.

Phoenix Earth: The Complete First Season by 711 Press (Author), Melvyn Riley (Author), Ronald Coleborn (Author), Rich Dalglish (Editor) is an outstanding example of great science fiction / space opera writing. It is action packed and full of intrigue. It will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire book.
The authors did a great job with developing a storyline that was both believable and easy to follow. It was written in the format of a television series with each chapter called an episode. Don’t let this confuse you. The various episodes/chapters flow seamlessly together weaving a fantastic story.
The characters are also very believable and real to life. It is easy to connect with them and follow their roles in the story. I love when I can put myself into the story and follow along with the characters and identify with them.
I really liked Phoenix Earth: The Complete First Season by 711 Press and I highly recommend it to all readers.

Guest blogger, Author Emma Right, discusses her new book, Keeper of Reign.

Guest blogger, Author Emma Right, discusses her new book, Keeper of Reign.

What was the inspiration behind ‘Keeper of Reign”?

When I first heard the Switchfoot song, “Meant to Live,” it got me thinking about how far short each of us fall from our true potential. Christ really came to give us life and life more abundantly, and yet the trials and troubles of this world reduce us, and it feels that our trouble world is so big. This is just like how it was for the Elfies who lived in Reign. Also I’d read Destined to Reign, and it inspired me to think of possibilities.

I wanted to write an allegorical fantasy about the fall of man and the redemption story set in a fantasy setting that’s filled with danger and adventure. I wanted something young readers can enjoy but still have a Christian message.

What do you hope Keeper of Reign accomplishes?

I hope my readers can see that with the power of the gospel, we can overcome our problems and difficulties. I want to empower young readers with this message, that if they seek the truth (the Ancient Books, in Keeper of Reign) they will find wisdom and answers to life’s problems. It doesn’t mean the answers are going to come easy, but persistence will pay off, and the Bible has the answers.

How does your strong faith influence your writing?

I know that apart from Christ I can do nothing. I’m not being humble, it’s the honest truth. I hope that in every story I craft the Holy Spirit will work through me, and touch the readers with words that are meant to touch and transform them. That’s the power of words.

Keeper of Reign summary:

Books written in blood. Most are lost, their Keepers with them. A curse that befell a people. A Kingdom with no King. Life couldn’t get more harrowing for the Elfies, a blend of Elves and Fairies. Or for sixteen-year-old Jules Blaze. Or could it?

For Jules, the heir of a Keeper, no less, suspects his family hides a forgotten secret. It was bad enough that his people, the Elfies of Reign, triggered a curse which reduced the entire inhabitants to a mere inch centuries ago. All because of one Keeper who failed his purpose. Even the King’s Ancient Books, did not help ward off that anathema.
Now, Gehzurolle, the evil lord, and his armies of Scorpents, seem bent on destroying Jules and his family. Why? Gehzurolle’s agents hunt for Jules as he journeys into enemy land to find the truth. Truth that could save him and his family, and possibly even reverse the age-long curse. Provided Jules doesn't get himself killed first.
